Want to talk to me before you decide?

I’m very happy to chat on the phone or on Zoom for 15 minutes to answer any questions you might have and advise you on whether I think CranioSacral Therapy might be able to help you. This is absolutely free and non-binding.

What happens next?

If you decide that you would like to book an appointment, we will agree a time by phone or email. I will send you instructions for your appointment, a consent form which you will need to sign before your treatment, and a form asking some questions about your general health and any conditions that I should be aware of.

Payment

Please pay the session fee of £60 by BACS. I will provide you with my bank details by email. Or you can bring cash or cheque with you to your appointment (exact money please).

The treatment

When you arrive, I will show you into the treatment room and we will chat about how you are, why you’ve come, what you need from the session etc. I may take some notes for my own records during this discussion.

Then I will ask you to lie on your back on the therapy couch. (If lying on your back is not comfortable for you, I can treat with the body in other positions, such as seated or side lying). The session will last 1 hr in total, including the conversations at the beginning and end. Treatments take place fully clothed. CranioSacral Therapy is very different from massage. The touch is generally much lighter, and I will often keep my hands in the same position on your body for some time. A lot of the work is at the head and sacrum (your tail bone at the base of your spine), but I may also work elsewhere on your body depending on what you need at the time.

CranioSacral Therapy is often deeply relaxing and you may drop in and out of sleep. Some people experience spontaneous movements as their body lets go of long-held tensions. I will probably ask you some questions during the treatment about any feelings that you notice in your body as I work. For more details on what to expect, please see my FAQ page.

At the end of the session, we will chat briefly about how you are feeling now and anything you noticed during the treatment that you would like to discuss. As we do this, I will take some more notes for my own records. My client notes and everything that you tell me during the session are of course kept strictly confidential.

You are very likely to feel drowsy immediately afterwards, so it is a good idea to leave yourself a little time – take a 15 minute walk in the fresh air, for example – before getting on with your day. Plan plenty of time to rest and sleep after the session, because the body often needs this in order to assimilate the healing work begun during the treatment.

Booking another session

The changes may be subtle after the first session and you might not notice much, but the effects are cumulative, and it is generally the case that, the more sessions you have, the more improvement you will feel. Most people need more than one session to really notice a difference, and you can book the next one at the end of your session if you wish.
